This DVD contains the open source version of SUSE Linux 10.2.
This distribution is suitable for all uses, on the desktop through
to server installations. It is also ideally suited to laptops,
containing many features such as power/battery management and utilities
to assist in setting up wireless networks.
SUSE Linux is compatible with many hardware devices, and recognises
USB devices such as flash drives, hard drives and more. Many hardware
manufacturers also include Linux drivers alongside other operating
systems, and other devices work with a generic driver, or have had a
driver developed by the Linux community.
As with many Linux distributions, SUSE's installation process allows
for dual booting installations, meaning you can run it alongside other
operating systems such as Windows XP, as well as standalone
installations.
With Linux, you are free from the restrictive licensing agreements
of other operating systems. Linux can be installed on as many systems
as you want, without extra cost. Once you've got Linux installed on
your PC, if a friend wants to try it he can - no need to buy further
licenses. Why not install it on an older PC for the kids, or even bring
a new lease of life to that old PC gathering dust in the attic!
